Working with researchers since 2004
The work is yours.
The second pair of eyes is ours.
Research Developers supports doctoral scholars and early-career researchers through the parts of the work that are hardest to do alone — study design, analysis, manuscript development and getting a paper ready for the journal you actually want.
Set before work starts, not negotiated afterwards.
What we are
A research-support practice, not a writing service.
There is a real difference between helping a researcher do their work well and doing it for them. We work on the first side of that line, and we are direct about where it sits.
What we do
- Research consultation and study-design review
- Methodology guidance and analysis planning
- Statistical and computational analysis, with interpretation
- Literature-review structuring and synthesis support
- Manuscript development, editing and formatting
- Journal scope matching and submission documentation
- Support in drafting responses to reviewer comments
- Viva, presentation and defence preparation
What we do not do
- Guarantee journal acceptance or a particular grade
- Contact journals, editors or universities on your behalf
- Represent ourselves as the author of your research
- Sit examinations or attend a viva in your place
- Place work in journals we cannot verify as legitimate
- Issue plagiarism, originality or AI-detection certificates
- Resell, reuse or share your data or drafts
- Promise turnaround times a journal has not published
Where our work stops. We support the preparation of your research and your manuscript. Decisions about acceptance rest with journal editors and peer reviewers, and decisions about your degree rest with your supervisor, department and university. We do not represent scholars to journals or institutions, and we do not offer to influence those decisions.
Service areas
Support that meets the work where it is.
Most scholars come to us with one specific blockage rather than a blank page. Each of these can be a standalone piece of work or part of a longer engagement.
Thesis and dissertation support
Chapter structuring, argument development, methodology review and revision cycles that keep your supervisor's feedback at the centre of the work.
Research paper development
Turning findings into a clear, well-argued article: framing the contribution, tightening the narrative and preparing figures and tables to journal standards.
Data and statistical analysis
Study design review, analysis planning, execution in SPSS, R, Python or MATLAB, and plain-language interpretation you can defend in a viva.
Journal selection and submission
Matching your work to journals whose scope and readership actually fit, then preparing the submission pack the editor asks for.
Reviewer-response support
Reading reviewer reports with you, planning what to accept, what to argue and what to test again, then drafting a point-by-point response.
Viva and presentation preparation
Mock defence sessions, question banks drawn from your own methodology, and slide design that carries an argument rather than decorating it.
How we work
Six stages, and you approve every one of them.
The sequence below is the order the work actually happens in. Nothing moves to the next stage without your sign-off on the previous one.
First conversation
You describe where the work stands, your deadlines and what your supervisor or reviewers have asked for. We say plainly what we can help with and what falls outside our scope.
Scope and written proposal
We put the agreed scope in writing: deliverables, milestones, who does what, revision rounds, timelines and cost. Nothing starts before you approve it.
Working sessions
Your assigned consultant works through the agreed material with you — structure, methodology, analysis or drafting — with your input at each stage rather than at the end.
Internal review
A second reviewer checks the work against the brief: methodological consistency, reporting standards, citation accuracy, similarity screening and language quality.
Revision rounds
You read, question and push back. We revise within the agreed rounds, and we explain the reasoning behind any change we suggest.
Submission and afterwards
We help assemble the submission pack, and when reviewer comments arrive we work through them with you. Editorial decisions remain with the journal.
Not sure which stage you are at?
Describe the work in a few sentences and we will tell you where it sits and what would help most — including when the honest answer is that you do not need us.
Since 2004
Two decades of sitting on the same side of the table as the researcher.
Research Developers began as a small consulting practice working with doctoral candidates in Tamil Nadu. The method has not changed much: understand the study properly, be honest about its weaknesses early, and help the researcher fix them before a reviewer has to.
- Consultants with doctoral-level training in the discipline they advise on
- A second reviewer on every piece of written work
- Written scope and milestones before any work begins
- Confidentiality by default — your data stays yours
Disciplines
Where our consultants have subject depth.
If your area is not listed, ask. We would rather tell you we are not the right fit than take on work we cannot advise on properly.
In their words
What scholars say when we ask what actually helped.
Names are withheld and details generalised at the request of the researchers who shared these. They describe the working relationship, not guaranteed outcomes.
The most useful part was being told, in the first call, which parts of my study were not going to survive review. It was uncomfortable and it saved me a year.
They worked through my reviewer comments with me line by line instead of just rewriting the paper. I understood what the reviewers actually wanted by the end of it.
My analysis was re-run twice because the first specification did not match my research questions. Nobody tried to hide that from me.
Common questions
The things scholars ask before they commit.
We provide research consultation, methodology and analysis support, manuscript development, language editing, formatting and publication-readiness review. We do not sit examinations, write work that is submitted as a scholar's own unaided effort where their institution forbids assistance, communicate with journals or universities on a scholar's behalf, or promise a particular outcome.
No. Acceptance is decided by journal editors and peer reviewers, and no external party can commit to it. What we can do is prepare the manuscript to the standard the journal asks for, help you choose journals whose scope genuinely fits, and support you through reviewer responses.
It depends almost entirely on the journal, the field and the review outcome. Some journals return a first decision in weeks; others take several months, and revision rounds add to that. We will tell you the typical range for the specific journals you are considering rather than a general figure.
Similarity screening can be built into the review workflow, and we discuss the report with you so you can see where matches come from and address them properly through citation or rewriting. We do not issue certificates of any kind, and no tool can prove originality on its own.
Our editorial process is human-led: a consultant works on the material and a second reviewer checks it. Where a tool is used for something routine such as reference formatting or language checking, we will say so. We ask scholars to follow their own institution's and their target journal's disclosure rules, which differ and are still changing.
Project by project, based on scope, discipline and timeline. You receive a written scope and cost before any work begins, and additional work is quoted separately rather than added silently.
You do. You are the author of your research. We keep your material confidential and do not reuse it, share it or resell it.
